Howdy!  I know I have failed at keeping us all up on the year-long writing every day challenge.  I have managed to write almost every day late, though it's often no more than a sentence here and there. Deannie's challenge has really done us well, I think!

On another note, most of us have probably seen this, but I thought I'd also post it here for reference: "Data Mining Reveals the Six Basic Emotional Arcs of Storytelling".  I find it interesting that the 'down' arc - which tends to make me think of sad endings - are the more popular (but I could be interpreting that incorrectly.)

Of course, I'm also not sure how much I trust data mining . . .

How are the rest of you doing???

As you have all probably noticed, I am a slackass.

Well, I prefer to think that RL has intervened in my creative process, and all of my creative energy has been expended in grading, trying not to kill students, family, and other annoying people, and generally getting through the day without creating yet more emotional crises - and to that end, I have been, for the most part, successful.

But slackassery at writing has been the cost of such self restraint.

NOW, though, I am in the denouement of the semester (see how I did that, injecting some writery language in there?) and I am setting myself a deadline.  Yes a DEADLINE.

I will finish ONE STORY BY THE END OF NEXT WEEK.

And to make this concrete - that means MAY 15.

I think I know which one it is, but as I am working on two Mag 7 at the moment, I could be wrong.

Anyone want to join me in this insane adventure???

I notice, by the by, that we do have some awesome writing going on!  Shout-out to [personal profile] deannie and [personal profile] tarlan for recent post and a hope that [personal profile] todeskun is still working on her personal goals!

YEA for writing!  Randi, Deannie, Todeskun - some really really good stuff coming out these past few weeks!

How's everyone doing?  I am still hard at work on my two pieces, one of which has stopped growing, thank goodness, and might actually come to an end soon.

You guys? Spring being inspiring??

It is.  It is supposed to be a short one, and it was actually going to be a quick, flash-type fic.  I have added words to it, though, every day since I started it. Which has been - four.

Right now, I call that a win.

I am also think, thanks to Jojo, that I may have to watch an episode tonight. "Safe Cracker". Darn her and her monochromatic videos.

Anyone else??

AND??

So trying to get back on the ten day mark - and it is time for Spring!  So - how are we doing?

I have made some headway on a few things; I posted a piece set in Deannie's wonderful OW (Old West! How fantastic!) superhero universe which was a lot of fun to write, and I have ideas ON PAPER (well, computer) for more.  I am still working away, a few words at a time on what has turned into a novella, more or less.  Jojo was more than kind enough to let me bounce ideas off of her this week so that I now have a rough outline of the climax and ending. Perhaps I can get it posted by the summer.

I am still looking for a short piece to knock out - well, more than one.  We do have that 3000 challenge!

How's everyone else doing?

Hi all -

I have not managed, I regret, to write every day, but I did finish a story and get it posted, so I count that as a win.  I think my average on my days that I write is keeping me at the 100 words a day, as I tend to knock out about a page when I have the time.

I have managed to keep up with the writing on another story that I hope to finish pretty soon (maybe?).

But I'm really trying to come up with some SHORT pieces.  Any suggestions?

How are y'all doing??  Any thing inspirational going on?

HI all!  How are we doing with the writing?   I have, since the tenth, accrued 4442 words in three fics.  All of them are fan fics, and one of them is one that I started earlier this week in response to the International Fanworks challenge on AO3: "What does your favorite character—or your favorite pairing—get fannish over?"

How's every one else doing? a few of us are also talking about adding in an original fic component if anyone's interested (you add in a number of words that you'd like to commit to writing an original fic, but it's part of your overall total of committed words) just in case anyone's interested.  I'm going to run that off my on DW blog.

Good Ten days?

It's January 11 - a little early for the mid-January update, but I thought I'd try this month to push a little harder (as it's the time when we're working on developing the habit of writing every day).  I have managed so far this month to write 1579 words in two different stories, though I suspect that that will slow down as my teaching semester officially starts today, and my classes start tomorrow.  So I'm hoping that getting ahead will give me a little grace for this week.

How's everyone else doing?  And how are you going about tracking your words per day?  I've just started putting dates at the beginning of a section do that I will know what I wrote that day.  Anyone else have a system?
