A double entry - the first word count post for the trial run of the writing experiment! For those who want to participate, just drop your word count for the day in a comment!

And - an interesting essay, "Things They Don't Tell You when You're Learning to Write" (I can't get a link to insert so here: http://mouseferatu.com/index.php/blog/things-they-dont-tell-you-when-youre-learning-to-write/ ) . Some of my favorites:

"4) You need an editor. Always. Whoever you are. No matter how precise or attentive you are. No matter how long you give yourself between writing and rewriting. You will always, always, always miss things that a new pair of eyes would spot." Oh yes yes yes.

"2) You’re not special. You have to work to become a good writer. Maybe a little, maybe a lot; natural talent enters into it, certainly. But you’re not going to start off at a professional level. You’re just not." Yep, been kicked in the teeth with that one, too. *g*

A good list - and short.

Yes and yes to needing an editor and having to work to get good/better! Although of course "at professional level" is a definition open to interpretation :)

Totally slacked off yesterday, and I'm embarrassed to admit that I only got 100 words (though it might have been across three paragraphs...).
