Tonight is the premiere of AMC's new Western "Hell on Wheels"; this review compares it to both "Deadwood" and "Firefly" - two of my favorite shows - yet not to our own Mag 7.  Despite that oversight, though, I mention it here as it looks like it could be interesting and it is, after all, a new western.

And it could inspire some new ideas for writing, especially as this show is set earlier than Mag 7 and it also deals with the building of the trans-continental railroad!

I'm looking forward to seeing a new Western. Bonus in the pilot is Christopher Heyerdahl (Halling AND Todd in SGA), but it doesn't look like he's recurring; still, he's always well worth watching! The review you link to is far more positive than Mo Ryan's, which basically said the show's trash, don't bother. *g*

The character who seems most like the protagonist, that none of the reviewers mention, is Clay Mosby from Lonesome Dove: The Series (same backgrounds); but, then, most Americans haven't heard of the wonderful Canadian Western.

(I suspect this show might be too m/f focused for my taste, but I'll certainly be checking out the pilot to see. *g*)
