From time to time I talk about how research can be your friend, especially when writing in not modern day universes. You know, like our Old West canon universe. And recently I've heard of two upcoming dvd releases that I consider research. First is a charming Canadian show called "Bordertown", which isn't American south west, but it's the same era and really well done. It's about a town that straddles the US/Canadian border and the difficulties the Mountie and the Marshall have sorting things out. The second, which I just saw announced today, is the release of the first two seasons of "Bat Masterson", the old Gene Barry vehicle, which is a terrific western. Just the sort of show that is chock full of great little plot ideas that could be tweaked into terrific stories for our guys.
