While I was doing not as much writing as I wanted, I picked up the book on self-editing that I've been reading (slowly). It's a book about writing/editing mystery novels, and it's full of good suggestions on ways to keep plots moving forward and characters being developed, and I find that it helps me think about how I want to plot and develop a couple of the longer stories I have on my drawing board.

Anybody besides me find books like that useful?
