I know we're all about the writing, but with writing comes editing, too. So, how do you approach your story when you're editing? Me, after the first time I write "the end", I put the story aside for a few days. Sometimes longer. Then, just to have a different perspective, I might print it out rather than look at it on the screen. I try to make sure my characters sound like themselves, that there aren't any major plot-holes, that each scene advances plot or builds character. I tend to tighten rather than add more. And yes, along the way, it isn't just me self-editing, I send stories out to beta to make sure that readers see what it is I think I'm saying in them.
Remind me why writing is fun? *g* Yes, it is work, but to me, I think it produces something much more satisfying in the end.
