Query - well, several

As Fic_promptly is no longer viable, does anyone have any other *general* prompting places they like to us?  I love our Mag 7 prompts on Daybook (thank you, Randi!!) but sometimes, I find random prompts to jar my muse loose.  Any one have any suggestions?

How goes the writing?  I'm behind as the throes of the end of the semester and massive grading have deterred me (hard to believe that's not inspiring, isn't it.  *G*).  Anyone making headway or are we caught up in spring and other RL distractions? anyone playing with alternate universes???

Some words Ezra might know

Beating Dail to the punch with this!  Today's Daily Writing Tips has "75 Words for Cheat, Fraud, Trickery . . . " and of course, I thought of Ezra:

"Human beings have developed cheating, fraud, and trickery into such a high art (or, more accurately, a low one) that, in English at least, we’ve created an extensive and colorful vocabulary to describe such activity. Here is an exhaustive but incomplete list of synonyms in noun and/or verb form for cheat, fraud, and trickery.

I can hear Buck say 'bamboozle' )

But I can hear Ezra say 'thimblerig' - with masterful eloquence, as he does it.

So - writing??  I am getting some OC stuff written which I consider related to Mag 7 as it is western and it is somewhat close to the boys. *g*  Anyone else??

And??

So first off - a great Chuck Wendig post on "25 Way to be Happy as a Writer or at least Happier".  I especially like # 3 - Write What you Want to Write, and #24 - Love some Part of What You do.  There are many other good ones, though.

so - anyone having fun writing?  Any AUs going on out there???  I'm almost finished with a story that I've been trying to finish and I'm working on an AU idea that I'm very much loving.  Any one else?

So - how about an AU murder mystery?

As this is still AU writing time, and for those of us who have decided that they want to write in a modern AU, here's a really neat way to commit murder, involving bananas and honey bees!  (Yeah, I'm working on seeing if I can actually make that also work in the OW . . . )

How's the writing going??  Are we getting things written?  Or at least having thoughts??

Speaking of AUs - poetry?

So here in the US, it's National Vin Month!  Okay, no, not really, it's National Poetry Month - and in honor of that, and to cross these ideas of alternate universes and poetry, I thought I'd periodically drop in some interesting cowboy poetry - yes yes, indeed, there is actually a form of American poetry called "Cowboy Poetry" (who knew??).

So today, in hopes of inspiring us all to write alternate universes (perhaps ones in which Vin writes good poetry and doesn't recite it to Mary), I give you a classic cowboy poem.

Not an ode to his horse.  )

So - words?  ideas?  Something fun and happy???

AU stuff!

So - we're at a new month, and given the incredible number of alternate universes this fandom generates (aren't mythic stereotypes awesome??) we're on to AU conceiving and writing!  Even Old West is - well, if it's slash, it's, um, (sadly) AU too!

I'm working on a sci-fi universe, a big, broad concept idea, but also a few shorter stories that I hope to pull together! The rest of you?  Words?  Paragraphs?  Outlines?
