Day 248 - Dry boring grammar stuff - but done well
I found myself recently - this week - discussing with my history (re: NOT ENGLISH) students the basics of writing an essay.
I was asked, repeatedly, if that meant they had to know how to write 'correct grammar'.
Um, yes. It's hard to make a successful argument if you don't know how to make your subject and verbs mate or put your modifying phrases and clauses in the right place.
To that end, I share a nice short summation of these things: "Clause I Said So: a Refresher Course on Sentence Types"
